SAF starts Care Fund for severely disabled servicemen

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Armed Forces has started a Care Fund for severely disabled servicemen.

Members of the public can contribute to the fund to show their support.

Through donations, the fund has amassed a million dollars in public contributions.

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen revealed this as he gave an update on injured servicemen Jason Chee in a Facebook post.

Mr Chee, who lost his limbs in an accident, is recovering and has been transferred to the general ward.

Dr Ng said the Care Fund will be over and above the military's existing compensation and welfare schemes.
